One Year Anniversary of Live Holiness

Okay, so Father is in a blogging slump.  I’m not sure why.  I’m tempted to make all kinds of excuses: the busyness of the new academic year, my new assignment as high school chaplain while maintaining my other responsibilities, etc.  But the truth is, I’ve just been in a writing slump.  So, I apologize for my infrequent postings.

I can’t pass up the opportunity, however, to celebrate the first anniversary of Live Holiness (September 1).  I want to thank all of you, my faithful readers, for your prayers, feedback, and encouragement.  It’s such a joy to connect with so many good people, Catholic and non-Catholic alike.  You’ve enriched my life, and for that I’m grateful.  I do plan to continue blogging, but I ask for your patience as I get out of my slump and adjust to my new schedule.

Here in southeastern New England we are tracking Hurricane Earl.  I’m a weather geek, and actually get very excited at the prospect of a major storm roaring up the coast.  Although it looks like we’ll be spared the worst of Earl’s brunt, his approach reminds me of the first post I wrote for Live Holiness.  And so on the first anniversary of this blog, I share that first post with you here.

God bless you!  And know that I pray for each of you.

Happy blogiversary! Thanks for pointing me to your first post. I seldom go back to look at the early posts of blogs I’ve found, but it’s always an interesting exercise to see the origins of online presences.

Thank you for keeping with it even during this time of inspirational lacking. I really look forward to your blogs and God speaks through you most beautifully using everyday life moments as examples and guidance. I have several weather geeks in the family but that along with the great love of sports seems to have passed me by. I am however caught in my own wirlwind as I prepare to go to a mission in Appalachia Kentucky for a years service, or as long as God wants me there. The decision itself wasn’t where the storm lies though, it is in the telling of family and friends (some didn’t take the news well at all), planning of my going away Mass & dinner (way more complicated than I expected), cleaning my room and deciding what I will need during the year there and what I can live without (without really knowing their weather, fun) … the list goes on and on. So when the winds were blowing and I found myself unable to catch my breath, when I heard the doubts about whether I should be doing this, was able to do this…. then I stopped, stepped into the eye like you said, the quiet, and there He was and there my peace was as well. He told me He loves me, is right by my side holding my hand, and all of the little details don’t really matter and will take care of themselves. Now, even though the winds are blowing all around me and the craziness is still there, maybe even growing. I stand in the center, protected and better capable to judge where He leads me, and amazingly, the details seem to be taking care of themselves. You inspire many, I will be praying for your inspiration to return very soon. May God bless you and Mary keep you always.

Happy Blogaversary indeed, Michael! I’m sure there are many of us who appreciate you and your thought provoking posts; I know I certainly do, even if I am still a fairly new reader. Long may you continue, my friend. :)

Hello Father, Happy Anniversary! I love your blog. Your words always speak to me, make me think, make me thankful you’ve come into my “online” life. I always smile when I see “Live Holiness” in my inbox. I, too will be praying for inspiration for you though when you write about the ordinary it becomes extraordinary because your love of God and of man shines through. Thank you, Father and may God bless you.

thank you… i’m searching… there are so many options, how we know where to look? sometimes it looks like there is no “a place” for me… thanks for your posts… why you don’t start a circle of blogs where other “searching” we can share our journal and help each other as a community…
